Ward was the first child born to MonroeLouisianaon 15 April 1976. Ward was a student at Monroe Christian School, a Christian private school for children. She was a student at Ouachita High School for her secondary education. But, she transferred to River Oaks High School after the school year ended. She was also a student at Northeast Louisiana University briefly after graduation. Ward dropped out at 13 and moved in New York so that she could start modeling. She tried her hand in acting later in the year. In the 1970s, she had a small part that was not credited on the daytime soap All My Children. Then she was offered a brief role as NBC's prime time teen-drama Malibu Shores. The soap for daytime Sunset Beach cast Ward as the female Meg Cummings in late 1996.
